As one stay-at-home dad says, being home to take care of his baby son “is a real fatherly thing to do. I think that’s very masculine”
I think the perspective of what is considered manly or fatherlike is varied based on the family and friends agent of socialization as these are the core and emphasize on gender norms and social expectations. Personally, my dad would consider being a financial supporter is what a father figure is mainly while being a home is a plus but more of a motherly role. (Someone else in my lifes socialization)
