Do you mean to the left? I maybe would put "figure #" the picture and when you are taking about that image you can say that your are referring to the figure.

Maybe you could center this picture and the map so all three pictures are in line? I might be being too specific but I think having all the visuals aligned would help it be more cohesive.

What is Clearcutting?
I thought this section was super interesting but some more pictures would be visually more appealing if there were more pictures. Plus pictures could help break the text up.
