In Capitalist cultures people are taught to feel prideful over having more opportunities in life than others that lead to more success. Pride is blind, arrogant, self assurance. It is engineered in our Idol culture here in America where rappers are paid to dumb down their lyrics and glamorize wealth and success at other's expense marketed as "personal accomplishments".

In Communist cultures they engineer a social stigma against the flaunting of wealth. People feel embarrassed over their own ego surrounding wealth when it comes at the expense of their friends and family.

The proper response to success and accomplishing something should be gratefulness, self awareness, and consideration for those who provided support and those who are less fortunate. And hopefully a desire to lift your friends up to your level.
