    1. Several real parents, in Europe and the US, have also decided to raise their children without revealing their gender.

      Is this going to be a standard norm in the future? Are we going to be required to do so? How about finding as many gender neutral names? Or maybe even neutralizing the gender of a name so that all names can still be used.

    1. Castration?

      Castration is taking away from power- looking like the lesser. Because when a man is castrated he looses the most signifying aspect of his manhood and therefore is diminished. What is good about him anymore? What is valuable about him anymore without his phallus?

      When Frida see's Diego sleeping with her sister she goes to Paris and spends intimate time with several different people- both men and women. Here she is showing that she is winning her body back and enjoying her physical being selfishly instead of shutting herself away from experience for Diego.

      We don't need to feed into the masculine ideal- when the discourse of the feminine is a completely different subject/language/concept.. it is separate from the masculine

      this almost makes me think that she's saying that a feminine language needs to be analyzed as another from the male language.. the feminine discourse presents different meaning than that of the male discourse
