In the topmost section of the timeline, a time period can be selected by clicking on "Period" in the top right of the timeline and adjusted with the < > + - buttons in the top left.                                  If the period of time (or selection of equipment) is larger than what is shown, it is possible to scroll through the dates horizontally (or through the equipment vertically). Finally, this top section also contains the lock button. This allows you to pin the timeline open so that you can continue to view the timeline as you work.
