    1. As the term came into more common use, candidate Trump picked it up and began using it as way to dismiss news coverage he didn't like. That is, he effectively changed the meaning of the term from "news parody" to "legitimate news that's false." Except that the news reports he was calling false weren't false. He just didn't like them.

This did a lot of Impact. Trump saying that the news he didn't like was "fake news" allowed the term to be used by lots of people when they didn't like the argument that was presented against them.

    2. s people tend to enjoy reading outrageous stories, especially those about a political opponent, the stories went viral, sent on to thousands and millions on Facebook by people like your mom, dad, and everyone's crazy uncle-- and maybe even you.

I think this is my favorite sentence in the post. When Trump was the president, my very liberal grandmother would always click on and read these stories and get very upset about them. We never knew whether to believe what she was saying or not because she was always on Facebook clicking on suspect links.

    1. “We are experiencing the collision of three national crises — the COVID-19 pandemic, economic turmoil and recent, traumatic events related to systemic racism,

This makes me think of human interest and impact. While I knew that COVID was a big part of this, I didn't think about the racism and events like this that have also taken place in the last year.

    2. The previous high was 63 percent, reported last November as part of the APA’s annual “Stress in America” survey.

This is 20% lower than what was shown in the survey that just went out. It's in the news because we have all been locked in the house for so long and everyone (at least that I know about) have been going a little crazy.

    1. Meyer closed his news conference by apologizing to the fans.

The article didn't include much outside of quotes from Meyer's press conference. It was interesting to me that the writer of this article didn't include much of their opinion on what should happen.

    2. A nine-second video showing Meyer sitting with his back to the bar in an Ohio State pullover while a young woman danced close to his lap was posted to social media Saturday night.

Urban Meyer (a married man) was caught on film getting danced on by a women who was muuuuch younger in age than he was. He is also the head coach of the 0-4 Jacksonville Jags.

    1. The drive got an enormous boost late last month from President Biden, who tweeted a video saying workers should be able to make their decision in the election without pressure from the company. Although Biden didn’t name Amazon in the video, he made it clear that he supports the union drive.

Having back up like someone from the president must feel very good for all of the workers who are putting their jobs and possibly lives on the line.

    2. “More than 1,000 Amazon workers from around the country have reached out to the RWDSU seeking information about unionizing their workplaces,”

This is exactly what Amazon doesn't want. As later in the article it says that they've approached 400-5000 workers to organize this in an Iowa facility. This would almost absolutely slow some production.
