    1. Perspectives

Specifically the end of this made me upset. The fact that kids learn to use technology before they are able to read is crazy to me. I hope that books continue to be written and published because I think they are so valuable, especially to young teens.

    15. Adolescence

I found it interesting that the idea of a teenager is relatively recent. However, the explanation makes total sense and I was surprised to find out how the teen came to be.

    16. five decades ago there were no clearly identified cliques among teens; today, from the kinds of clothes worn to music listened to, teenagers are defined by their groups

    20. Psychology:

I found this section very confusing to understand. I think it was all the different names being mentioned. Essentially, it is talking about different ways teachers should teach and why that is based on the development of people.

    27. Perspectives of Adolescence

Freud has always made me slightly uncomfortable. I don't like how he sexualizes everything. Especially with such young children who are just starting to enter adolescence.

    28. He argued that the emotional ups and downs of the teen years are natural and even necessary to shape a stable adult personality

This stuck out to me. I would be interested to learn more as to why this unstable point in one's life creates a more stable adulthood.

It makes a lot of sense to me that a brain scan can't tell someone everything about a person. I think that brain scans should be paired with surveys or something to get background information on the person.

    33. Also, the emotional situation matters a lot. Teens are more likely to act impulsively in emotionally intense situations. So, it’s hard to say that a person’s behavior is caused just by how their brain is wired.

    37. A Biological View

Adolescence is an incredibly unfair time for a child because their body is telling them to act more like an adult but they are still treated as children. This causes them to act out in their own ways which may cause danger to themselves.

    38. The researcher explained this by saying teens were using the older, emotional parts of the brain, while adults were using the front part of the brain that helps with thinking and judgment.

    45. the average girl reaches puberty around age 12.5. Just a couple of hundred years ago, it was closer to 16 (Chumlea et al., 2003; Evelith, 2017). While the age of sexual maturity has been falling, the average age at which women have their first child has been rising; it’s now just over 26 in many developed countries.

A key fact that stuck with me.
