    1. Think I forgot how to be happySomethin' I'm not, but somethin' I can beSomethin' I wait forSomethin' I'm made forSomethin' I'm made for

I once again start to feel hope and happiness as she can be seen in this line not just hoping that she is going to be happy one day but she is made to be happy suggesting that she is going to be happy no matter what

    2. When did it end? All the enjoymentI'm sad again, don't tell my boyfriendIt's not what he's made forWhat was I made for?

In this part I start to feel sadness for the writer as she loses all sense of enjoyment however she cannot speak to her boyfriend who may be her only emotional support as she thinks that her boyfriend is just someone to keep her happy as usually your friends and family,or someone like her boyfriend are there to keep you happy.

    3. 'Cause I, II don't know how to feelBut I wanna tryI don't know how to feelBut someday, I mightSomeday, I might

I once again feel empathy from this verse as she doesn’t know how to feel from the scenarios she faces I feel empathy as sometimes in my life I have no clue what to feel to cope with the emotions that I evoke and I find that other readers may be able to relate to it.

    4. Takin' a drive, I was an idealLooked so alive, turns out I'm not realJust somethin' you paid forWhat was I made for?

In this line I feel empathy for the speaker as she does not know how to cope with the scenarios she faces that she takes a short term solution of taking a joyride but has to come back to a shattering reality of realising that she doesn’t serve a significant purpose to the reader/listener almost as if she’s just a item or a stepping stone for the read/listener to use

    5. I used to float, now I just fall downI used to know, but I'm not sure nowWhat I was made forWhat was I made for?

In this first verse, I feel sympathy for the persona as she faces a change in her life and isn't sure what her purpose in life ,that she starts to question if she even has a purpose in her life.

    6. Somethin' I wait forSomethin' I'm made forSomethin' I'm made for

In this line the writer finally finds her meaning in life and shows hope in it.

In the first phrase “Somethin’ I wait for” shows how the writer the writer has hope in the distant future to be happy one day using for foreshadowing. In the next line she says “Somethin’I’m made for” showing that the writer found her resolution to the question “What was I made for?”.Repetition is then used here to show how the writer is happy in her discovery. The word “wait for” and “made for” also rhyme this may be to show how the writers purpose in life may be to wait for her purpose in life.

    7. Somethin' I'm not, but somethin' I can be

In this line we can see that the writer is not made to be happy but rather someone who can be happy.

Diction is used here to show in a literal sense that the writer is something she isn’t, to show how the writer is being objectified almost as if she’s a toy that has a smile on it as a smiling toy may not want to be happy but is made to be. The next line “somethin’ I can be” tell me that though she may be “made” to be happy and not want to be she can be happy.

    8. Think I forgot how to be happy

In this phrase the writer feels that she has truly lost all sense of happiness.

This can be seen in how the writer uses connotation in the phrase for the word “forgot”,she uses connotation to emphasise how she may not have experience happiness in so long or she may have been so disheartened by her past experiences that she may have a lost the sense of being happy

    9. Looked so alive, turns out I'm not realJust somethin' you paid for

In this line the persona realise that shes's just a item that is used by someone else and not someone that is considered to be a person.

Imagery is used here to create a vivid image of a very lively speaker who once was vibrant and full of life in the phrase “Looked so alive”. But the phrase "turns out I'm not real" shatters the image using contrast indicating a sense of realisation of falseness or lack of authenticity of her life.

Furthermore in the next line "Just somethin' you paid for" proves the fact that she truly realises that she is being used by someone else for their personal benefit. The persona then uses irony to convey the idea of her being "paid for" with speaker's existential questioning of their purpose. This implies that the speaker feels objectified and lacks inherent value beyond what someone else has paid for. Symbolism may also be used here as the words "paid for" shows societal expectations or pressure, the persona may also feel confined and constrained by it.

    10. What I was made forWhat was I made for?

Persona questions her existence in life. The phrase "what was I made for" is very effective as it uses symbolism.

This can be seen in how the persona uses the word "made" instead of a phrase like "What am I here for", the word "made" shows that the persona compares herself to an item and not another person. The comparison shows that she feels her life is just like an item and usually items are used by a person.

In the phrase that I identified, repetition is also used to emphasize the writer's deeper curiousity about her objective in life.

    11. I used to float, now I just fall down

Persona seems to direct to herself that she is having a shift of state and is experiencing something in her life. 1. "I used to float" The phrase float shows a sense of ease and lightness and possibly happiness. This can be seen in how the word "float" shows a sense of weightlessness or a feeling of not being burdened. This means the writer was likely in a carefree state where she was not weighed down by responsibility or challenges.

      1. "now I just fall down" The phrase shows that the writer is in a state of decline. The word "fall" conveys a lack of control over her life. It could also symbolise a drawback or failure.

Together the phrase uses contrast to show the big change that the writer is facing in her current life.

    12. What was I made for?

Repetition is used again to emphasise the writer contemplation on her purpose. However in this line we now know that she doesn't want to inform her boyfriend that she is sad possibly because there is tension between the two of them that she doesn't feel like she has a purpose to her boyfriend

    13. I'm sad again, don't tell my boyfriendIt's not what he's made for

In this line, the persona experiences inner conflict and attempts to handle her emotions.

Firstly the first line says "I'm sad again" In this line, I can infer that the speaker is experiencing sadness and may be in a cycle of it. This shows that the speaker may be having trouble suppressing her emotion and coping with it.

In the next line "don't tell my boyfriend" the speaker uses irony and foreshadowing to show the complicated relationship she has with him. Irony can be seen being used here by how instead of seeking help from your lover or in this instance her boyfriend the speaker doesn't want to seek help from him, this shows the disconnect in the relationship and foreshadows potential tensions and complications due to how the writer and possibly her lover does not want to be open with each other.

However, in the last line, she quotes "It's not what he's made for" shows how the writer finds that her boyfriend isn't someone to look for emotional help. Symbolism can be seen here in how the writer also objectified her boyfriend this can be seen in the words "made for" This means that the writer could have been possibly objectified so much that when it comes to her boyfriend, who you would think is someone who makes you happy and keep your vibrant, the writer starts to think her boyfriend is also like an object, she thinks that her boyfriend is someone who makes her happy only, instead of someone who keeps cares about her and is willing to give emotional support.

    14. When did it end? All the enjoyment

Persona in this questions when did her enjoyment end.

In this line she uses a rhetorical question in this line the speaker does not look for a actual answer to why did the enjoyment end but rather reflecting on the loss of enjoyment the persona faces. The device is used to emphasize the loss the persona faces.

    15. But someday, I mightSomeday, I might

In this line the persona foreshadows her success of having "feelings" once again. This can be seen in the word "might" this means that the persona embraces the possibility of her success rather than admitting to failure once again showing resilience which makes me happy.

Repetition is then used in the quote to show how she reflects on the emotional journey she will have on her way to finally being able to "feel"

    16. But I wanna try

Persona here shows that she wants to confront her emotions head-on even after her past experience and try to explore her emotions actively.

I feel happy for the speaker as she faces her own emotions and confronts her inner conflict. This shows resilience making me feel happy as she doesn't want to give up

    17. 'Cause I, II don't know how to feel

In this line, the persona faces internal conflict in her willingness to confront the situation.

This can be seen in how the repetition at the beginning of "I" at the beginning of this line shows how the writer is afraid to admit that she doesn't know how to feel and has internal uncertainty about knowing what to feel.

After she faces the internal conflict in the phrase "Cause I, I I" she admits that she "don't know how to feel." revealing her inner vulnerability and confusion. This is likely because she doesn't know what to feel to cope with the situation she's facing and in a world with a very harsh reality it is also very hard to show vulnerability. Allegory is also used here as in the earlier line "Looked so alive, turns out I'm not real Just somethin' you paid for" She is being objectified paints a bigger picture of how she feels so much like an object that she has lost her emotion.

    18. What was I made for?

Repetition is used to show her deeper question of her purpose however in this line the persona now understands that she is just being used and has lost her meaning in life once again and is search for meaning again.

    19. I used to know, but I'm not sure now

In this line the persona shows another change of state in her life .The line once again uses contrast to show difference between before and after.

The phrase "I used to know" shows how the writer had some sense of situation and knows what her objective in life is.It could also suggest that the writer had a sense of confidence from "knowing".

However the phrase "but I'm not sure now" contradicts the first phrase. This can be seen in the word "not sure now" as it shows that the writer is not confident in her knowledge and may not be able to grasp on the scenario .This could be because of changing circumstance.

    20. Takin' a drive, I was an ideal

Persona takes a drive to have fun and claims to be an ideal.

This can be seen in how tone is first used in this phrase. An optimistic tone shows how the writer is certain of her claim of being ideal this can be seen in how she uses the word “I was an ideal” and how she phrases the way she takes a drive.

The writer then uses imagery to set the scene of her taking a drive and having fun. I can infer that she is having fun by the tone, the tone shows that the writer is not driving to get from one place to another but instead a joyride likely to relieve the stress of the changing scenarios in her life, this suggests that the writer is truly facing a challenge within her life which could be seen in the earlier line I annotated “I used to float, now I just fall” and “I used to know, now I'm not sure now.”

I also think the quote “I was an ideal” uses allegory. I infer this as nobody is perfect and the phrase uses “ideal” meaning that the writer feels so confident that she calls herself “ideal” or rather someone who is perfect. This means that she may not feel perfect at all and is in denial of it so she takes a joyride for a temporary sense of happiness to distract herself from the truth and claim to an ideal.
