    1. Just a puppet on a lonely string

      The persona refers himself as "a puppet" . This is because his people are the ones controlling him with "a lonely string" which suggests that there are no split opinions and everyone's opinions are unified without opposition. The imagery of "lonely string" also suggest that if the persona refuses to listen to his people, the "string" will snap which causes the "puppet" (the persona) to fall

      The persona foreshadows his fate after death and feels that St Peter would not accept him to heaven which is shown in "wont call my name". This could be due to the betrayal of god's trust and disloyalty towards god. The persona believe he would not be allowed in heaven as he reflects on his past actions which were fueled by greed

      "Shattered windows and the sound of drums" connotes violence in the persona while he ruled the people. Instead of being peaceful, the persona resort to forceful measures to get things done. This shows that the persona is evil and despicable,

The sibilance in this line brings about the effect of poverty that has affected the persona and there is nothing he could do about it. That is because the motion of sweeping the streets is tireless and never ending since there are countless of streets. It also requires a resilient mind and stamina. Furthermore, despite the hard work, the persona is not rewarded much and has to accept what he is given just to survive as cleaners do not earn much.This shows the injustice and cruelty of the system

This reflects good leadership of the persona as he managed to build an army capable of defending his country and people. It also shows loyalty of the persona since he cares about his people.

Rolling of a dice is usually random and usually have a 1 in 6 chance of reaching a chosen number since a dice have square sides. Likewise, the naive persona uses his luck when making decisions which could have serious consequences if he is unlucky. This thus, represents the amount of trust the persona has on God as the persona believes that god would also lead the persona to victory and is the determinator of "luck". This thus shows the laziness and flaw as a leader as he is lazy and does not work towards a solution to a problem but passes on the burden to God

      The biblical allusion of "Seas would rise" shows the loyal connection of the persona and God and how he would act out on god's will as the king of god's people. "Seas would rise" also shows the unmeasurable power of the persona just like how seas, which consist of water, cannot be measured.

      The diction of "when I gave the word" shows the amount of power the persona has. The insignificance of "word" shows that the persona has devotees who would do whatever he says.

      "rule the world" represents the limitless power the persona once had .The pessimistic tone of "I used" shows that the persona's immense power has since been lost and he is reminiscing with nostalgia.

"silver plate" also conveys the sense of hatred for the persona as "silver" was an expensive material in the past and people are willing to put his head on a silver plate because of their deep hatred for him

      "wait" conveys the sense of patience and this foreshadows a staged coup. "Revolutionaries wait" also conveys the sense of determination of the people who despise and hate the persona
