    1. It's not about big people

In my humble opinion i don't care for the term, " Big People". In the sense of people of power. I believe we are all equal and all treated differently for a variety of unnecessarily reasons but our thinking should be about us as an equal, Regardless of ones power and strengths in life or at work the stigma and term used as BIG PEOPLE shouldn't've exist however the term equal and The persons name should be the title and not by a made up fictional title like Superior or Boss etc.

    2. Well, one of the things that we can do is actually turn the mirror on ourselves.

I believe this a valuable tool, "Looking in the mirror". We collectively need more self awareness in and around our everyday. We look into the mirror at ourselves to see a version that is enlightening powerful and determined. We need to focus this attention to our everyday life and jobs. I believe that using this model could benefit our society not only for ones self image and reflection but ones ability to thrive in uncomfortable situation's.

    3. We've never experienced him looking like this, and so we don't expect it. We create in effect, a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I believe that this is a powerful statement as we have expectations about everything in life. From people to places and to relationships. As society, not many of us are willing to go in blind to anything. Fear is the unknown and many of us do not understand that. We expect things to go as planned in our head. When we meet someone certain attributes may be different but people are relatively the same. As we have experience meeting people and certain expectations. It is hard to change our thought pattern about this.

    4. We're very social animals. So the third area of bias is about the way we form groups. We form in-groups and out-groups. The groups that we're part of, they're our in-groups, and then, by definition, the other groups are our out-groups

Group forming can include and not include different types of people. There are biases in forming groups and most of them are conscious bias. people form groups based on looks, interests or even geographical locations. What we are aware of in these groups is how to exclude others that are not a part of these groups. It is often frowned ]upon to bring in new members without all group members agreeing and if that is done there is usually conflict amongst the group.

    5. self awareness is actually an important first step in, kind of, tackling things to do with bias.

Being aware of any bias from yourself is always a good way to identify that the situation we are stepping in may be confrontational to your own values. This self-awareness allows us to be reflective and be able to put that bias aside or at least be aware that it may have an impact on what we are about to see/hear or do. Self awareness allows us to make an effort.

    6. Their behavior had changed. Their behavior had changed even before they'd met the people. It was clearly a set of-- there was clearly a set of associations that they were making, elderly, aged, infirm, slow, I'd better slow down. And whether those associations were conscious or unconscious, they were clearly being made or impacting and actually having an impact on their behavior

Influences of priming can be unconscious or consciously acknowledged. When most people speak to children they do not use large words, and when people go to visit their grandparents they don't swear and sometimes they talk slower. These modifications to our behaviour may be seen as respectful, but what if it was a sort of priming?. It was priming in the years of upbringing. As we grow, priming is shown in different ways, acknowledgement that there needs to be a change in behaviour is enough to say that priming had occured at some point.

    7. And priming are the ways in which we can be influenced without realizing that we have been influenced. Ways in which we can be influenced without realizing that we have been influenced.

As future teachers, priming is a form of influence and we need t be aware of priming in schools. Priming can be beneficial for children in learning environments where they can be positively influenced to continue to thrive. Encouragement both in the classroom and outside are important.. If the opposite occurs it can have a negative impact children will suffer the consequences.

    8. We could never change their gender or their color without the other person noticing. We notice some difference more than others. It's automatic

Even though this was an experiment it was an opportunity to explore how people's perspectives can influence everything. in this case, only the larger changes were noticed when it came to gender and skin tone. subtle changes were not noticed. the question now becomes why? is it bias ? or is it something close to what we expected? Many people do not process more information than they need and their perception doesn't need more alternating.

    9. The world is not divided up into those people who have bias and those who don't. It is divided up, though, into those people who recognize they have bias and those people who think they have none.

Conscious bias is acknowledging that there is a bias. Unconscious bias is also known as implicit bias. People who have an unsconscious bias, may not even understand the need to reflect or change their behaviour. Biases may exist towards any social group.
