    1. Students who attendedwomen's studies classes were there to learn. They wanted to knowmore about feminist thinking. And it was in those classes that manyof us awakened politically. I had come to feminist thinking by chal-lenging male domination in our patriarchal household.

I told my mom i was going to take this class and she seemed really excited for me that I was taking it. She said that i was a feminist and that I like equal rights, and she was not wrong. Growing up with my father being the sole bread winner and my mom staying home and taking care of us made me realize I wanted to do more and show the power that I hold as a woman. I'm pretty excited about this class and grasping a bigger understanding of what feminism really is, and possibly being able to teach the art of it to other females as well as males.

    2. Through experience and hard work, and, yes, by learning from ourfailures and mistakes, we now have in place a body of theory andshared practice that can teach new converts to feminist politics whatmust be done to create, sustain, and protect our solidarity.

    3. Had there been an emphasison groups for males that taught boys and men about what sexism isand how it can be transformed, it would have been impossible formass media to portray the movement as anti-male.

Men were always taught that they should be the leader and they take care of their women and household and never taught to believe that it could be the other way around, this literally feeds their egos. Tagging on, an emphasis on this work to be taught would have been extremely effective considering the way things are now. And with men having this knowledge they can truly understand what it means to have feminist views and understand that we are not just "anti-male".

    4. And a huge majority of thesefolks think feminism is anti-male. Their misunderstanding of femi-nist politics reflects the reality that most folks learn about feminismfrom patriarchal mass media.

It's true that a lot of people do not know the very definition of feminism and only have an idea of what they think it is. They think it's just a women organization where they band together and hate on men. I think a lot of people should take the time to actually learn and understand what feminism is and think about the equality that we are for, that could be given to us. There could also be waaaayyyy more ads and publications on feminism, rather than just a simple little page in a newspaper that most people will likely skip over. Maybe they could make ads more attention grabbing to get readers interested in learning more about feminism.
