    1. TikTok for news has increased fivefold among 18–24s across all markets over just three years, from 3% in 2020 to 15%

      This is a very interesting statistic. It evokes two things in me; the first being that TikTok seems like a platform that can have a wildfire of misinformation. I use TikTok and I follow some scientists, but when news information comes across my screen I always research it before choosing to believe or not. I feel as though, based on what we have learned in the class, that not many people do this. The second thing this evokes in me is a curiosity as to why. What makes TikTok a platform for news: is it the interpersonal connection with content creators? TikTok generates this feeling of familiarity really easy with it's users and creators because TikTok can get very personal about a creator's life. Does this sense of familiarity drive up TikTok's statistics in it being used for news?
