It challenges and rejects racism and other forms of discrimination in schools and society and accepts and affirms the pluralism (ethnic, racial, linguistic, religious, economic, and gender, among others) that stu-dents, their communities, and teachers reflect.
I like this definition a lot and I am excited for the day when it is fully implemented within schools. The personal and academic growth of many students is stunted because of racism in the school system -- even by the teachers. If we were to single out solely the teachers and eliminate racism in this subsection, there would be a dramatic, positive difference in the lives of student minorities. They would have the same opportunities given to them by teachers, even in small things such as increased teacher to student interaction, and would grow much faster.
