    1. Over all, the research shows that countries should start preparing now for more citizens to relocate internally, according to Dina Ionesco of the International Organization for Migration, an intergovernmental group that coordinates action on migrants and development.

they say: people need to act fast and relocate starting now

I say: As easy as this sounds, it really isn't that simple to move and start a new life asap even though it is for your own benefit and safety concerns.

    1. Many are arid countries to begin with; some are squandering what water they have. Several are relying too heavily on groundwater, which instead they should be replenishing and saving for times of drought.

They say: Countries are finding it hard to find clean water and are relying on groundwater.

I say: I agree with this statement as clean water is becoming a hard thing to find in certain areas which cause using groundwater as a replacement when it is for other tough times instead.

    1. Guardianship ensures that the gender balance of power at home, work and perhaps even on the roads favors men by allowing them to consent — or not — to letting their women work, travel or receive medical care.

I disagree with this statement because guardianship shouldn't be allowed as it places a hold against women who have to report back to a male figure in their life and are holding them back from being free and independent.

    2. The change reflects the tectonic shifts in a society that have helped women reach the pinnacles of academic and professional success, combined with the effects of globalization, which have brought more openness to the kingdom than at anytime in its recent history

I believe it always should've been like this for every nation and country but I am happy to see that the Saudi ruler is allowing women to have better and equal opportunities.

    1. But like the white nationalists, they were also inclined to use only the information that was convenient for them: If a bit of Native American ancestry seemed as if it would impress their friends, for example, then they would embrace it. If they worried they wouldn’t be taken seriously, or thought they might be criticized, then they wouldn’t.

In order to feel or be more exotic, needing DNA validation is honestly so sad, this is what our generation consists of.

    2. Next, they coded the postings according to whether they challenged or confirmed the desired white identity, then did the same for the community responses. In about 100 out of 1,500 responses, users shamed the posters for failing to be white enough.Editors’ Picks‘Saturday Night Live’: Matthew Broderick Joins the Trump TeamWatch an Awkward and Funny Moment From ‘Downton Abbey’This Is the Moment Rachel Maddow Has Been Waiting ForAdvertisement

This statement and the letter below just shows how crazy this is and people needing validation to see if they fit in their certain race category.

    3. In response, their fellow white nationalists tend to console them by offering potential reasons the results can’t be trusted. Among them: skepticism about the tests’ interpretations of the science or statistics, conspiracy theories about Jewish-owned genetic testing companies’ multicultural agendas, and reminders about alternative ways of measuring whiteness.

The fact that this actually exists is absolutely ridiculous and that in order to be claimed "white" you have to have DNA proof and in general this whole concept is degrading.

    1. This combination of demographic change and economic dislocation can trigger something called sociotropic threat, in which people reshape their identities and politics around a sense of us-versus-them.

Neighborhoods that once had familiar faces are being introduced to new immigrant families and aren't assimilating well into local culture.

    2. Friends with good jobs, doctors and managers, now scrape by, he said. His son studied as a radiotherapist, but struggled for work.“They’re miserable,” he said. “As mainlanders buy apartments here, prices have become difficult to afford. So the conflict is about, first, jobs. Then housing. And then life.”

This is not fair to those who studied and worked hard to obtain a degree because now they are struggling to find work which goes to show this system is only helping out higher officials.

    1. "Busted his head open and blood got all over," Wright recalls. "I had to take him to the hospital, and they told me to tell them he ran into the wall and I better not tell them what really happened."

This is very scary and the fact that nobody helped them growing up when they were tortured and abused in an institution that was meant to just help them learn and be educated.

    2. "A great general has said that the only good Indian is a dead one," Pratt said. "In a sense, I agree with the sentiment, but only in this: that all the Indian there is in the race should be dead. Kill the Indian in him, and save the man."

A very messed up outlook of life that was super common in the past and still is to some people now.

    3. That tension exists for good reason. Language is so important because it's "how we experience the world," says Amelia Tseng. She's a professor of linguistics at Georgetown University, a research associate at the Smithsonian Institution and a scholar in residence at American University, where she studies multilingualism and identity. "We live our lives in language."

I agree with this because I believe language holds an importance when communicating with others within their culture and plays a special role.

    4. Growing up, I was told that understanding the language of the home country was of the utmost importance. Sometimes this message was subtle: Spanish-speaking strangers who, after trying and failing to interact with me, would let out a pointed "¿No habla español?"

This shows how much language holds such an importance to somebody's culture and identity.

    5. Matt Wray, a sociology professor at Temple University, says that if you think about the words white and trash, "you realize that they have nearly opposite meanings. 'White' suggesting purity, cleanliness, even the sacred. While 'trash' is about impurity, dirtiness and the profane."

      A literal oxymoron

    6. After all, "white" is the only racial group that needs a modifier for it to become a slur. There's no "black trash" or "Hispanic trash" or "Native American trash," presumably, because for most of American history, those people were assumed by those in power to be poor, uneducated and criminal.

This is a really messed up idea most Americans have in their head. Your color of skin should not determine your status in the world.

    1. They also analyze human bones and teeth to gain information on a people’s diet and the diseases they suffered. Archaeologists collect the remains of plants, animals, and soils from the places where people have lived in order to understand how people used and changed their natural environments.

I find it super interesting that archaeologists are able to find out about what happened in the past based on analyzing past creations and items from years ago and are able to form a history from it
