It is important to acknowledge that education is essentially a political activity.
Re-reading this week's chapter, I keep getting hung-up on this line. While I agree that education is affected by political views, I don't know that it is necessarily appropriate to state that education is a political activity. By design (or perhaps, by hope), education should be decidedly non-political. The reality of education, perhaps, is very politically driven, but something about the wording of calling education itself a political activity doesn't feel truly accurate.

As an educator how are Bloom’s levels and examples helpful to teachers in developing lesson plans and meeting standards?
As an educator, Bloom's taxonomy and revised taxonomy are extremely helpful for the development of lesson plans and meeting standards. Bloom's levels help to provide a road-map to teaching, a sort of generalized "guide book" for putting together lessons that aid teachers in meeting standards. However, it is important to note that Bloom's taxonomy is simply a road map that shows a general path to learning. It is neither a concrete all-purpose tool, nor do the levels provide any insight into how to use the levels. In order to effectively use Bloom's taxonomy, educators must have a conceptual understanding of numerous instructional strategies and lesson planning tools (such as backwards planning) in order to utilize the toolset provided by Bloom's taxonomy.

teaching
History speaks to professional practice in teaching much the same as it speaks to nearly any other profession. History, or more specifically historical practices, inform present practices through a variety of ways, but always towards a determination of whether the practices should remain, or change. The ideal and hope for any professional practice is that history would inform the practice in such a way as to necessitate change and modification, pushing the practice towards a permanent growth mindset in which the "practicers" are always adjusting the practices to meet the present circumstances. The trick, though, is that it is nearly impossible to use present circumstances or trends to accurately predict future influence, strictly because it is impossible to predict how people of the future will rate the importance of their history (our present).

what the advantages might be in incorporating OER as a part of the regular or special needs classroom. Any disadvantages?
There are a plethora of advantages to including OER as part of any given classroom. Between the currency of information, variety in subject matter and instructional techniques, and the wealth of teacher resources, OER has an almost unlimited set of benefits! Educators can use OER to find and leverage materials to truly individualize and differentiate their instruction, which is beneficial to all students, not just those in SPED. That said, accessibility is the biggest draw-back to actively including OER or any other digital resource into a class. OER usage by a teacher may not be contingent on internet accessibility, but educators should take care to pick and choose those resources based on their students.
