Throughout the entire poem, I got the sense that the author is talking about how he hopes that nature and technology can coexist with one another without either one being a "dominant" force, but in this sentence, it seems as if the author is hinting that if we did return to nature, technology would be "watching over" us like parents or any authoritative figure.
