I share(d) this fear, but perhaps what helps is to think about how research never comes to a conclusive final answer; knowledge keeps changing, evolving. It's not just the publishers' need for greed that drives new textbook editions, for instance. Why should we feel our projects for teaching would be exempt from changes to knowledge?

Teaching history can help here: to combat presentism, to understand that there were different ways of creating a society or a state, to show the myriad forms of the human condition to spark imagination
