wee shall be made a story and a by-word through the world. Wee shall open the mouthes of enemies to speake evill of the wayes of God, and all professors for God's sake.
This passage really caught my attention. Winthrop is using a lot of imagery to express his concern for the community for their actions. Especially the line that states "Wee shall open the mouthes of enemies to speake evill of the wayes of God, and all professors for God's sake" We see that Winthrop feared for criticism or hostility because of their faith.
