      I really love this concept of celebrating and encouraging students and educators to speak up against injustices. It seems highly different to the "keep your head down and the traditions strong" thought process that dominated most of my primary and secondary schooling.

      This is an excellent quote that nicely summarizes a concept that many struggle with. It feels almost like a continuation to the oft-quoted "those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it", but with a stronger, or perhaps more direct, plan of action.

      I find it interesting that while we often talk about the UDHR, I have never heard of the elaborative documents listed here. Furthering that interest, this is the first class I have had that has actively included the UDHR beyond a brief throwaway mention. I wonder why these documents, obviously highly important to many, are not touched upon more often in American schools.
