    1.  Create excellent, inspiring copy in a range of formats, including media releases, news articles, blogs, social media content and newsletters

I've written in-depth features, reports for think tanks and NGOs, news articles, commercial content and edited blog posts. While I don't have extensive experience working with social media, I have a solid grasp of the basics of a strong, engaging social media presence for personal reasons, as my wife has a strong social media presence (nearing 1 million).

I'm an experienced writer and researcher and am efficient with time management without taking shortcuts.

I enjoy working in a collaborative way, and am looking for a dynamic work environment where I can be myself. This is how I contribute in the best way, with the most creativity and enthusiasm. A small and determined team such as We Own It's would be a perfect fit.

    5. You'll be ready to jump in and proactively create new opportunities to ramp up our voice in the media and online. You'll also be happy to carry out a variety of basic tasks and be flexible about your role.

Over the last three years, I've worked as a freelance correspondent covering the Amazon rainforest (where privatisation of public land and forests has been the leading cause of deforestation), as well as other issues such as the slashing of science and research funds, the rise of far-right wing President Jair Bolsonaro and the consequences of science denalism on the country's Covid-19 response. My experience in writing in-depth, accurate and engaging pieces for a wide audience is an asset I can bring to the role.

My attitude is hands-on and fuss-free, always prioritising a collaborative, humble and positive approach to any task at hand. While I've written for The Guardian, the BBC, and worked on high-profile pieces for TIME Magazine, GQ UK and others, I've also cleaned bathrooms, waited tables and done admin work, with the consistent goal of doing the job to the best of my ability.

    6. We are making the positive case for public ownership

I'm passionate about the cause. As a British-Brazilian person, I am seeing the dismantling of public services on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In 2015, before the coup in Brazil, I was working for The Guardian and spoke to the head of communications at the Brazilian Ministry of Health. The NHS, he said, was and had been the blueprint for Brazil's public health system. Even though the country has just a fraction of the resources - I've lived first hand what it means for everyone to have access to free healthcare and higher education.
