Students take the lead on creating elearning modules used in classrooms at a Nebraska medical institution -- and faculty members say the content helps them appeal to students more directly.

That was just one benefit of including students in course design, professors at Dayton and other colleges have discovered. The practice can also help students reflect on their learning and provide professors with fresh ideas for exploring a topic they may have been teaching for years.

Once students understand their roles as knowledge producers in the classroom, they can apply those reflections to other coursework and throughout their careers
