    1. , a vast majority of adults under the age of 65 say they use YouTube

I wish they would have given statistics for what genre of content these adults were watching. It would be interesting to see if the type of content people watched differed based on their age. I also wish they had given more statistics on Youtube Kids. Learning how many children use this would have given a great insight to how much media young children are experiencing. This could then be linked to academic, social and mental well being outcomes as well.

    2. just 2% of those 65 and older report using the app – a difference of 63 percentage points.

This statistic was not surprising to me. Based off of conversations I have had with my grandparents about Snapchat I can tell most of the older population do not understand the concept. If I was born when they were I would not either. The concept of just sending photos back and forth and sometimes having the occasionally story share or chat is an odd concept in hindsight. Older folks would just give a friend a call when they needed to talk and they wouldn't feel the need to keep in constant communication. With younger folks it makes more sense why they are heavier users. Snapchat is an app so many of us have. It is common to ask a person you just met what their Snapchat is so you can stay in touch. It also allows for there to not be constant dialogue between two people, because you can just send photos with no caption.

    1. The challenge for the field of sociable media is not simply to invent ever newer ways of communicating, but also to understand the social implications of ubiquitous and omnipresent communication media.

This part of the article is extremly pertinent to todays world. With social media being a core aspect of many individuals personalities, socializing and attention in the real world has been affected. Apps like Tiktok with short videos have made many individuals attention span extremely short. Often affecting their time spent on work and other activities. Seeing the long term affects on human attention due to social media apps will be interesting to watch.

    2. Are these large numbers of weaker ties replacing or supplementing stronger ties? Are we replacingstronger ties with a greater number of weaker ties?

Social media does allow people to have many connections. However, these connections are often with people who think and believe the same things as the user. This is not inherently bad, but it can lead to sameness and no need for creativity on the users side. I believe people should seek out ties with others who do have differing beliefs. Creating ties with many different kinds of people creates stronger more meaningful ties among social media. It also creates a more cohesive community.
