This text is a good read for OERu Digital Citizenship learners.

At OERu, we encourage public annotations tagged with the specific course code which enables these interactions to be harvested for a syndicated course feed for the benefit of the open learning cohorts.

This is my comment

As a hopefully intelligent and committed OER advocate, I prefer the copyleft provision as a mechanism to protect resources from commercial enclosure. This is not an esoteric perspective - but derived from 20+ years experience working in the open trenches.

At OERu we prefer using BigBlueButton, an outstanding open source video conferencing tool that was designed for teaching.

There are excellent open source alternatives, for example Rocket.Chat and Mattermost for digital messaging.

There are open source alternatives for these technologies avoiding the need for users to sacrifice their personal data. At the OERu we use Nextcloud with OnlyOffice for collaborative document editing.

A useful summary for getting started with online learning, rather than emergency remote teaching. I don't see a copyright statement, so we need to check with Contact North | Contact Noord if they have applied an open license. I see that their main website is CC-BY-SA.

Listening is one of the most important skills of leadership. Entrepreneurs need to be good leaders, so listen to your staff and customers.

Autonomy comes with the wisdom to listen to others with more experience. Entrepreneurs who learn this early will be more successful - being your own boss comes with advantages, but can also lead to failure.

This is good advice. Given that four out of every five new startups fail, its important to start small testing ideas to generate business insight before taking on the bigger risk of going it on your own. What do you think?

Of all the successful entrepreneurs I know, they have all experienced failure. The ability to learning from mistakes and a healthy dose of perseverance is key to success.

At the OERu we have applied the Kanban approach to course design and development. This works well where team members are distributed around the world. We use open source tools like Kanboard (https://kanboard.org/) and Wekan (https://wekan.github.io/)

A hybrid of Agile project implementation has been used to develop open textbooks. See for example the BC open textbook sprint. https://successfulprojects.com/pm-topics/pm-methodologies/. This works well in producing a first draft for iterative refinements.

In your view, what are the implications of globalisation for recruiting project managers for the future?

A significant change underscoring the importance of people skills for the future of project management.

Sometimes there are "political" reasons for understating the budgeted cost of infrastructure projects to "influence" voter confidence in new expensive projects. That said, is a failure rate of 33% indicative of poor project management in determining budget or scope or is this the industry standard for risk failure?

Interesting statistic given that half of all project management offices close within three years (see statistic above.) Are these estimates reliable?

Item for discussion: Are there any steps missing from this list? What would you add and why?

This is good advice - project planning is an iterative process - I've rarely succeeded in generating a successful project plan in the first go and things will change over the duration of the project.

Analyzing and understanding the need (see above) is an important step in the process to establishing clear project objectives.

This is good advice for new project managers. Preempting solutions in the absence of analyzing and understanding the real need can lead to wasting resources.

This checklist provides a comprehensive overview of the competencies required of a Project Manager and will be a useful resource for the first IPM101 learning challenge to prepare a job advertisement.

This highlights the essence of project management and the three overarching goals of a successful project, i.e.: To complete a project:

• under budget
• on time
• within agreed functional / quality standards.

How does the flow of money influence "free" online courses? Can you think of contemporary examples of how the relationship between revenue stream might influence open online learning?

In today's world of instant messaging, we should be vigilant of superficial or "popular" interpretations without consulting the original sources. What does this mean for our study of critical media literacy?

I think this is the crux of the "message." For us utilizing OER as a "new medium" we should reflect on the "message" of what this means for society and culture. Keen to hear your thoughts by replying to this annotation.

I suggest replacing "standard formats" with "using open standards and open file formats" to ensure inclusivity and freedom of technology choice.

To my mind - this is a critical question. In a globally connected online world - local is not enough. Take the LiDA course for example - there are participants from 59 different countries with very different world views and on different sides of the digital divide. That said , context is important - the definition of digital citizenship for a secondary school learner is likely to emphasise different priorities when compared, for example to what LiDA learners might prioritise.

This is a complex challenge. In many developing countries the cost of Internet access is unfordable. How do we address these challenges in our individual capacity?

In the OERu context, this is an important point. Many OERu micro-credentials are mapped to formal academic credit towards university qualifications.

The OER ecosystem comprises many players with different goals, and that's fine. For this reason I think the CARE values are important for building a thriving and sustainable network.

Consider "important" reasons for taking the course and change to multi-select option.

Replace "authors" with "developers"

Consider incorporating an item to differentiate motivations for engaging with OERU.

Check Limesurvey software to see how to turn off the automatically generated information regarding tokens. We don't use tokens for course evaluation surveys.

Or for example, the implications of choosing a proprietary tool like Twitter versus using an open source service like Mastodon.

It is important to remember that CC licenses operate within existing copyright law. CC does not replace copyright - it refines it.

This emphasises the importance of reading the criteria of the marking rubric to determine what academic skills will be assessed.

This is an open access journal, therefore we have permissions to host an online copy of the article.

The OERu's Learning in a Digital Age course was developed to respond to this need.

The zero-textbook cost degrees will save learners millions of dollars. The OERu takes this one step further by assembling full online courses based entirely on OER. Of interest, if you have studied at university before, how much money did you spend on average per year purchasing proprietary textbooks? In the past, have you decided not to purchase a prescribed text because it was too expensive?

Thinking about what open can do that can't be easily be replicated using "closed" models is key - because this is the strategic point of difference for OER. This LiDA course is a good example - learners are encouraged to source open access materials in pursuit of their own interests rather than prescribing a closed textbook. Can you think of other examples that open enables?

LiDA is a tertiary education course and as such we place a high value on peer reviewed research. Its always a good idea to check the respective journal's review processes online. This is a key message - digital literacies are much more than digital skills. The concept is also culturally bounded taking into account the social norms of the respective communities. Can you think of any examples? Please share by replying to this annotation.
