Hypostatization: The Democrats are not a concrete group of people but a collection of people who align within center to left side of political beliefs. Appeal to fear: Confiscation of guns is a violation of people's fundamental rights in America. A large party in the States being in the business of confiscation would raise fears.

Present day, Democrats’ so-called “common sense gun laws” sound remarkably like the gun laws imposed by Vladimir Putin in Russia.
False analogy and appeal to fear: common semse gun laws and Russia's gun laws are implemented differently since one country is a functioning democracy whereas the other is a dictatorship. As U.S. tensions heat up with Russia, the comparing of Russia's laws to the U.S riles up fears for Americans that America is slowly turning into Russia.

If you think it could not happen here, recall the confiscation of thousands of home-defense firearms during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Local and “imported” law enforcement officers from outside states went door to door to take firearms from U.S. citizens at a time when the citizens needed them most.
False analogy: The Cuban communist regime went door to door to coerce its citizens whereas in Hurricane Katrina, the law enforcement officers where following the forced evacuation orders posted by the U.S government. There was so much outrage from the people that in the end, Congress passed the DISASTER RECOVERY PERSONAL PROTECTION ACT OF 2006, so that legally acquired arms could not be ceased again during times of disaster. The United States government had measures to ensure such injustices would not occur again, whereas the Cuban government does not. Appeal to ignorance: not many people know what happened after that incident in Hurricane Katrina

Appeal to Mob: The writer states as people of power convinces regular folks to disarm themselves whereas they are fully protected by the very arms they want to take away from people and security personell. It is us, the 'regular folks' versus the rich and powerful 'celebrities and politicians'.

Eastern European countries quickly succumbed to communist practices and implemented gun control in the mid-1900s. East Germany needed more than a wall to imprison the people and strip away freedom. They needed them to be disarmed.
Appeal to fear: the writer is appealing to the fear of Americans that their country is slowly but surung turning more communist.
