They can speak to technical aspects of the product, connect planned work to business strategy and to what makes the company more successful, and maybe most importantly they have the interpersonal skills to influence others around them towards these goals.

The Hierarchy of AnalyticsAmong the many advocates who pointed out the discrepancy between the grinding aspect of data science and the rosier depictions that media sometimes portrayed, I especially enjoyed Monica Rogati’s call out, in which she warned against companies who are eager to adopt AI:Think of Artificial Intelligence as the top of a pyramid of needs. Yes, self-actualization (AI) is great, but you first need food, water, and shelter (data literacy, collection, and infrastructure).This framework puts things into perspective.

The point is that users should be in control of their data, which means they need an easy way of accessing it. Providing an API or the ability to download 5,000 photos one at a time doesn't exactly make it easy for your average user to move data in or out of a product.

It's typically a lot easier for software engineers to pull data out of a service that they use than it is for regular users. If APIs are available, we engineers can cobble together a program to pull our data out. Without APIs, we can even whip up a screen scraper to get a copy of the data. Unfortunately, for most users this is not an option, and they're often left wondering if they can get their data out at all.

First field engineer in the field of telecommunications and networks:
Telecommunication engineering has seen immense advances in the recent years and thus, the role of a field engineer has also evolved. Telecommunication engineering is among the most evolving industries in the world. It is a branch of electrical engineering and it dates back to the 18th century when there were beacons and telegraphs used for communication.
The first field engineer in the field of telecommunications and networks was Claude Chappe, who was a French engineer. Then we have a long list of field engineers such as Thomas Edison, Carlos Slim, and many more. After the advent of computer networks and the internet in the 20th century, the role of a field engineer completely changed.
Who created the first telecom company that offers a link between consumer and employees?
The telecom industry is expected to expand even more in the coming years, but to date, the world's top telecommunication companies have reached a market value of over $50 billion. China Mobile Ltd., Verizon Communications Inc., and AT&T Inc. are the leaders in the world of telecommunication service providers. These companies serve as a link between the consumer and the employees, allowing them to communicate whether they're using traditional wired telephones or mobile phones.

Denison Ice Road
The Denison Ice Road was constructed by John Denison, an ice road engineer, and his crew. He drove a Caterpillar tractor which pull freight sleighs in harsh environments like those found in Alaska. His experiences with these long drives between mines sparked his interest in designing a road that could support regular transport trucks and vehicles (Princes of Wales Nothern Heritage Center n.d.). The construction of the Denison Ice Road began in the late 1950s. This road was planned to connect Yellowknife through the Arctic Circle to the Great Bear Lake silver mine. This distance totaled about 530 kilometers or 323 miles. John Denison and his crew worked with Byers Transport to complete the construction of Denison Ice Road. Byers Transport was a company that was at the forefront of ice road construction in the North. The construction of the Denison Ice Road was built through some of the most isolated terrain in the sub-arctic region. In 1988, John Denison received the Order of Canada for his successful construction of and ingenuity in building winter roads (Yellowknifer 2001). One of the bigger changes going from engineer to manager was to redefine what I meant by the question: how are we going to do this? As an engineer I would deconstruct that question to ask what is the software we need to build, and the technical barriers we need to remove, to achieve our goals. As a manager I would deconstruct that question to ask what is the process by which we achieve our goals.
Nice characterization of "engineer vs scientist" divide as well. Add to the scientist persona the idea of constant experimentation and thinking out loud, and, perhaps too, a tolerance for failure that the engineer cannot afford.
