There are dozens of books (and websites) out there that have writing prompts which may help you. Flip open to a random page and start writing.

If there's some longer work you're hacking away at, another exercise I like to do occasionally that helps on the work at hand, but also gets me away from it is to put one or more of my characters into other popular books or movies. For example, what happens when I drop the 15 year old high school girl from my work into the middle of Die Hard? How would her dad attempt to fit into the milieu of Regina George's gang in Mean Girls? It can be quirky and fun, but also works to hone who those characters are by having them interact with other well developed characters.
