Then came Willie Dobson’s Rhythm Touch in 1948, which did away with the small carriage return lever which had served Underwood so well for more than half a century and introduced the long, drooping carriage lever.

Spotting tips. There is an early and late version of the SS. The first ones still used the smaller old style return lever and had chrome strips with three ribs. In around 48 they went to this return lever and the chrome is 5 ribs wide.
For differentiating between the early and later model Underwood SS pre-1948 and after.

Last week, the public was meeting thie answer hereDreyfuss touch in four more conveniences:
Dreyfuss' shop was so busy in 1948 that a Newsweek article highlighting his work named four projects, but missed a mention of his work on the Royal Quiet De Luxe which had come out earlier that year.
-
For such work, Dreyfuss collects an annual income greater than $2,000,000, a healthy slice of the approximately $25,000,000 which business spends on industrial design in America. There are about 30 people on the Dreyfuss payroll in his New York and California offices. The boss shuttles between the two.

The Motive Puzzle: The tip which led to Bolton’s arrest had come from John Miller of Highland Park, now awaiting sentence with John Pantello for burglary. Miller told the police: “Bolton offered me and John Pantello fifteen grand to bump off Reuther.” Later, he added, Bolton hid two shotguns in Miller’s home. Several hours before the near-fatal shooting, Bolton came after the guns. “I want my two typewriters,” he said, according to Miller. “[’m going out and kill me a redheaded Communist,” Bolton was quoted as adding, with complete disregard of Reuther’s staunch anti-Communism.

The earliest time of composition of any of these fragmentswas, so far as we can judge, 1929. The date at which the latestdatable fragment was written was August 1948. By far thegreatest number came from typescripts which were dictated from1945- 1948
Based on the dating provided by Anscombe and von Wright, Wittgenstein's zettelkasten slips dated from 1929 to 1948.
for reference LW's dates were 1889-1951
Supposing that the notes preceded the typescripts and not the other way around as Anscombe and von Wright indicate, the majority of the notes were turned into written work (typescripts) which were dictated from 1945-1948.
What was LW's process? Note taking, arranging/outlining, and then dictation followed by editing? Dictating would have been easier/faster certainly if he'd already written down his cards and could simply read from them to a secretary.

He notified the university administration that he was unable to complete thejob before leaving his study for the hospital where he died, October 24, 1948. Thevolume is being completed by one of his students, Professor Walton E. Bean of theUniversity of California.
