In code, use comments to explain the “why” not the “what” or “how”.

hypothes.is is an exciting project, but not a commenting system. It belongs, therefore, to a different category of software (annotation systems).

I believe there is a place for public comments, but the amount of energy required to nurture a positive community is beyond the means or desires of most institutions. And so most comment sections simply don’t provide a healthy place for conversation.

I want to tell this kid that they’re awesome for being weird. I decide to keep my mouth shut because this kid doesn’t care what an old man thinks, and neither do I, it turns out.
