    1. If you want something super cheap, a Clarke Sweetone.  If you want something that's more of an intermediate instrument, I'd get a O’Briain Improved, Freeman Tweaked, Dixon Trad or DX005, or Hoover PVC. Those are just recommendations from experience, there are a few threads on here that have lots of recommendations. https://www.reddit.com/r/tinwhistle/comments/1fq77yf/pinned_whistle_maker_list/ https://www.reddit.com/r/tinwhistle/comments/179avhc/a_request_for_a_pinned_thread_of_all_whistle/

Several people here recommend the Dixon DX005 (plastic) as a good mid-price starter whistle in the $50 range.

    1. Aesopian language is a means of communication with the intent to convey a concealed meaning to informed members of a conspiracy or underground movement, whilst simultaneously maintaining the guise of an innocent meaning to outsiders.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aesopian_language

Parents often use variations of double entendre to communicate between each other with out children understanding while present.

It's also likely that Indigenous elders may use this sort of communication with uninitiated members nearby.

    1. Limiting zoning regulations, allocating relocation vouchers (as my AEI colleague Michael Strain has proposed), and implementing school-choice reforms all might be among the options in tearing down the walls that separate the poor.

As he rightly says they "might be", but where are his small scale experiments providing any support for these claims??

School-choice is lovely in major cities that might provide it, though often it's a socio-economic ghetto creator moving privileged white children from their dark skinned neighbors. Why not force better public education and funding by rolling back the strangle hold on economic spending going back to Regan? School-choice is nice, but it continually feels more like a dog whistle for institutional and structural racism.

And don't forget that for the smaller communities that only have one school option things are even much more dire.

    1. We might learn something new, if we understood both sides.

Allosso is using "both sides" in a broadly journalistic fashion the way it had traditionally meant in the mid to late 21st century until Donald J. Trump's overtly racist comment on Aug. 15, 2017 "you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides." following the Charlottesville, VA protests.

Perhaps it might be useful if people quit using the "both sides" as if there were only two perspectives on an issue (for or against), when in reality there is often a spectrum of thoughts and feelings, not all mutually exclusive, about issues?
