    1. Hypehouses were a development that made middle-aged people feel even older. The idea of random people living together to make TikTok videos sounds like hell on earth. And it turns out to be pretty much hell on earth.

Hypehouse (collab house) examples: * https://www.vox.com/the-goods/22877013/hype-house-netflix-show * https://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/celebs/a34655703/tiktok-sway-house/ * https://harpers.org/archive/2021/06/tiktok-house-collab-house-the-anxiety-of-influencers/ * Does Clubhouse, the app, count? It seemed like a hypehouse for hyping hype.

What happens when hype runs amok?

    1. Clubhouse has really made a fuss around the digital world. It’s hard to imagine a person who hasn’t heard about this app, celebrities who joined it, or pranksters who already managed to confuse the audience. Taking into account the skyrocketing popularity, “how to make an app like Clubhouse” has become an urgent question in the software development business.
    1. Sounds like I'm not missing anything.

    2. While there are people using the app in imaginative, social, and subversive ways, something about its over-all tone seems predetermined—a natural outgrowth of the “creator economy,” the performative intimacy of influencer culture, and the Silicon Valley hype cycle. (Some of the loudest hype men are those best positioned to profit from the hype.) It is hard to shake the feeling that everyone on Clubhouse is selling something: a company, a workshop, a show, a book, a brand.

So, yes, a ringing endorsement then....

    3. But I also wondered, Why did I let all of these people into my house?

This seems to be the most winning part of the app so far... :(

    1. In a social media landscape that typically compels you to spend hours staring at a screen—often distractedly flitting between multiple screens—Clubhouse lets you multitask while you listen. Like podcasts, you can listen while you take a walk, fold laundry, or work out.

      在一个典型的迫使你花几个小时盯着屏幕的社交媒体环境中,Clubhouse 让你在听的时候可以处理其他事,比如散步、叠衣服甚至健身。
