Yet another PKM Guru channel. A mixture of (he says) Tiago Forte (BASB, CODE), zettelkasten, and PKM.
Uses Craft, Canva, Figma, Spotify (for ambient focus).
He's actively creating/using some of the words and definitions of others, but also creating his own "system" definition. (hubs, etc.) He redefines Forte's C.O.D.E. to give it his own spin: Capture, Connect, Create Share.
He's got a subtle proselytizing Christian underlying message. Mentions Bible. Has hat with word "WRSHP". "Adding value to someone else's life" by sharing. Personal conversation is important to him (proselytizing). Speaking at his church about what "God has put in his heart."
Turning notes into "diamonds"
There's an outline of a system here, but he doesn't show actual practice, which is possibly the most important part, otherwise it may be unusable theory. To be able to do this system, I think, one would need to already be conversant in what is going on generally in the space or have Forte's system under control. By this point, what is Wheeler's real contribution other than a small example?
meh....

Zettlekasten is an index card method of storing notes for future use. Popularized by Ryan Holiday, author of The Obstacle is The Way, the Zettlekasten system has gained a lot of traction in recent years. YouTuber Greg Wheeler, in this short but very detailed video, shares how he integrates the Zettlekasten system with Tiago Forte’s second brain methodology in a complete walkthrough:
We have now reached peak zettelkasten-I-just-don't-know-what-the-definition-even-is-anymore. And this is a Substack focused on productivity.
The definition of zettelkasten here is the lowest possible version.
It's (falsely, I think) described as "popularized by Ryan Holiday" who has a form of practice, but doesn't describe it as zettelkasten. (Has he ever used the word on his blog? There's one throw away mention to it and Luhmann #, Google doesn't find any others.)
Then as a cherry on top, he presents a mélange of methods as a Hybrid PKM system.

Professor Lehman, who is also the University of Tasmania’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Aboriginal Leadership and Palawa cultural historian, emphasised the importance of academic collaboration with Indigenous scholars and that scientific validation of oral traditions reinforces, rather than supersedes, the authority of Indigenous knowledge.
The scientific validation of oral traditions aids in creating a third archive which fuses the value of Indigenous knowledges and Western ways of knowing.

The instinctual BS-meter is not enough. The next version of the ‘BS-meter’ will need to be technologically based. The tricks of misinformation have far outstripped the ability of people to reliably tell whether they are receiving BS or not – not to mention that it requires a constant state of vigilance that’s exhausting to maintain. I think that the ability and usefulness of the web to enable positive grassroots civic communication will be harnessed, moving beyond mailing lists and fairly static one-way websites.

he was working on the same theme with Stefanie Posavec. They completed their piece some time later, depicting the changes as lovely branching trees — a kind of homage to Darwin’s lone diagram in the book.
Greg McInerny of Microsoft Research and Stefanie Posavek created a version of Darwin's On the Origin of Species that displayed variations between the editions as a branching tree diagram, a nod to the only diagram which appeared in Darwin's original work. .

Like gravity
Indeed ... some poems fall right in front of us. We just have to notice ...
-
take notes
Hmmm. Like Terry, you work on paper with your notes ... I do that with songwriting but never with poetry (not sure why not)
-
Sometimes these journeys become poems.
These are the kinds of journeys I try to take, too, often with other poems .. using lines and phrases as a point from which to leap/jump

A Story of a Poem
I love that a poem might have a story behind it ...
-
First I often write about space and gravity
I think most of have some recurring themes in our poetry, particularly if we are writing regularly. Mine is music.

For over 30 years, we have stood as a beacon of hope in Los Angeles to provide training and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated people, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members of our community.

Whereas topical forms of invention rely on fixed, generic heuristics, and predetermined analytical methods, choric forms prioritize the unpredictable, affective elements of personal experience across particular places and times as central to the inventive process.1 Our synthesis of the scholarship concerning choric invention identifies four primary principles: first, the consideration of space and place as agentive entities rather than as mere backdrop for human action; second, the juxtaposition of subjective experience against objective history; third, and quite similar to the second, a resistance to synthesis in favor of multiplicity; and fourth, and for our purposes here most important, its inability to be codified into a predetermined, stable, or teachable system.
a nice summation of work on chora and choric invention. I wonder, though, how mobility might be added to this list. Thomas Rickert makes an interesting case for the ongoing attunement to ambient environments via a choric mode of thinking.
