I only used Turtle wax on the paint. You can go over the decals provided you don't polish and put too much pressure on them. The nickle was done with a generic metal polish.

William Ebbink, Tom Hansen, Wayne Bouchard, and Blake Banner swear by this. All seem to like it for metal and plastic, and all seem to like it for paint on typewriters as well.

Putty sticks (aka paint sticks) are good for filling in nicks and dings on furniture.
These putty sticks and some crayons are also great for restoring the colored index lines on typewriters as well as other colored metal parts and occasionally on some plastic typewriter keys.

Needs better sourcing, but
Henry Dreyfuss added crinkle paint to his Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter design to diffuse reflected light so that typists who worked at their machines all day wouldn't have headaches from the glare reflecting off the fronts of their machines.
Yanni Giftakis recommends melting crayons into the letter groves of typewriter keytops to replace their missing paint with a heat gun, much the same way D&D players will fill in the groves on their dice.
This is similar to Richard Polt's recommendation "To restore faded paint on keys and scales, try Lacquer-Stik Fill-In Paint."

Our calendar paint by number that we call our lives.
The ideal aspect ratio is 3:2. When the image width is 200 pixels, the height should be about 133 pixels. If your height value is substantially different, crop the image to avoid distortion in the thumbnail.
I noticed that it's blurry, at least for me, when I use paint for this. Rather, I used my computer's default app; snipping tool, and uploaded it onto http://resizepic.com/ to resize the image into exactly 200x133 pixels and it was not blurry.
