    2. It is terrible to seehow a single unclear idea, a single formula without meaning, lurking in a young man's head, willsometimes act like an obstruction of inert matter in an artery, hindering the nutrition of the brain, and condemning its victim to pine away in the fullness of his intellectual vigor and in the midst ofintellectual plenty.
    1. Beatrice Webb, the famous sociologist and political activist, reported in 1926: "'Every one agrees nowadays', observe the most noted French writers on the study of history, 'that it is advisable to collect materials on separate cards or slips of paper. . . . The advantages of this artifice are obvious; the detachability of the slips enables us to group them at will in a host of different combinations; if necessary, to change their places; it is easy to bring texts of the same kind together, and to incorporate additions, as they are acquired, in the interior of the groups to which they belong.'" [6]

      footnote:

Webb 1926, p. 363. The number of scholars who have used the index card method is legion, especially in sociology and anthropology, but also in many other subjects. Claude Lévy-Strauss learned their use from Marcel Mauss and others, Roland Barthes used them, Charles Sanders Peirce relied on them, and William Van Orman Quine wrote his lectures on them, etc.

    1. For decades, Sanders has had the luxury of railing about the need for big changes without ever having the power, or responsibility, to achieve them. American socialists are to the left what libertarians are to the right, gadflies and Jiminy Crickets trying to play the role of conscience for the two dominant parties.

And which of the ludicrous slew of now former candidates HAS had the "luxury" of "railing about" (whatever that is) "or responsibility, to achieve them." ?? Does Biden even count? What VP has ever been more than the White House version of a whip.

    1. The idea that Bernie is some kind of grouchy ogre is an old and ugly snipe. Nobody ever spends time talking about his smiles or immediate concern for people's physical safety or intensely deep sense of empathy for the blue collar working populace. He's not our friend. He won't call to wish us a happy birthday. He won't make us chuckle with a well-timed joke.

      That's not his job.

His job is to, hopefully, become president and start working to change America into the land our Constitution promised. It's nowhere near impossible, but it won't be easy wresting control from the corporate establishment (AKA; The DNC). They are engineering the nomination process as we speak to keep Bernie from taking the nomination.

    1. Under the Sanders proposal, for example, cost control is secured by a global budget and by imposing Medicare payment rates. Blahous, a former Medicare trustee, estimates that under the Sanders proposal, provider payments would be cut by an estimated 40 percent by usingMedicare payment rates. Using Medicare payment rates throughout the entire American health care economy would hurt patients. Already, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services projects that “nearly half of hospitals, approximately two-thirds of skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), and over 8 percent of home health agencies (HHAs) would have negative total facility margins.”

The system does not keep a balance between suppliers and consumers. Make up the economy of health care disorders.

    1. The 1620 agreement (first called the Mayflower Compact in 1793) was a legal instrument that bound the Pilgrims together when they arrived in New England. The core members of the Pilgrims' immigrant group were Separatists, members of a Puritan sect that had split from the Church of England, the only legal church in England at that time. Others in the group, however, had remained part of the Church of England, so not all of the Pilgrims shared the same religion.

The Mayflower compact was a signature sheet that would be used for the signers to go to America for religious freedom.

    1. The Mayflower Compact, signed by 41 English colonists on the ship Mayflower on November 11, 1620, was the first written framework of government established in what is now the United States.

was this written before of after they set sail

    1. This campaign is not about Bernie Sanders.

While this is no doubt a rhetorical move--no one running can president can really be that humble--this is a stark contrast from Trump who announced his candidacy in front of cameras at a building named after himself.

    1. Sanders Is Right About Busting Up the Big Banks By:  Robert Reich

"Oh, and yes, the episode also showed that making the breakup of big banks the be-all and end-all of reform misses the point."

    1. Sanders: What I foresee is a stronger national economy. And, in fact, a stronger economy in New York State, as well. What I foresee is a financial system which actually makes affordable loans to small and medium-size businesses. Does not live as an island onto themselves concerned about their own profits. And, in fact, creating incredibly complicated financial tools, which have led us into the worst economic recession in the modern history of the United States.

How does the economy get stronger if more people lose their jobs after this breakup? Has he studied the Bell/Baby Bells divestiture?

    1. According to the entrance poll in Nevada, Clinton won black voters 76 percent to 22 percent. To put that in context, Clinton’s margin is only slightly smaller than Barack Obama’s 83 percent to 14 percent win with black voters in the 2008 Nevada caucuses.

    1. "I want to invest a trillion dollars in rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure. I do want to do that because I think that will create up to 13 million jobs," Sanders said.

Not just cuts, but spending too.

    1. Support for Clinton also looks very different from support for Sanders.

Except the charts that follow don't show the same survey questions being asked.

"I'm not enthusiastic about her candidacy" is a very different answer from "I don't think he could win".

    1. You think we should open the borders and bring in a lot of low-wage workers, or do you think maybe we should try to get jobs for those kids?

so it sounds like he's not supportive of open borders. Hmmm

    1. doubt that Sanders sees racism as a serious issue or recognizes the existence of white privilege.

Then why is he dismissive of #blacklivesmatter?

    2. I’m a progressive who mostly focuses on the working and middle class.”

this is like when women say "I'm not a feminist! I believe in full equality of the sexes!"
