pathogenic VHL mutation c. 232A>T; p. Asn78Tyr
A retrospective series of case reports were analyzed to detect and compare changes in VHL disease-associated tumors before and after sunitinib treatment. Sanger sequencing of blood identified the mutations discussed. One case includes a 56 year old female with a c.232A>T mutation in the VHL gene, leading to a p.Asn78Tyr protein change. Her presentations included pancreatic endocrine tumour, renal cysts (identified at bilateral RCC), and unidentified back tumor. Her sister was identifies with the same point mutation of VHL and found with pancreatic NET. She died of the hemorrhagic stroke at age of 40 years. Other family members include a brother and nephew who each were identified with the same point mutation of VHL, but refused for further examinations for VHL-related lesions. The mother died of stroke at early of 50 years.
