This was much more of an issue a generation ago, when your ‘74 Chevy Nova or ‘69 Ford F-100 had a 35 amp alternator. This will KILL your alternator. You should get a battery charger or a trickle charger. Alternators go through hell when trying to recharge a fully depleted battery.

IMO: alias cp="rsync -avz" cp is outdated

Sprockets 4: The effect of config.assets.debug does not match the rails documentation.

This appears to be an undocumented breaking change. For example, the word "debug" does not appear in the sprockets 4 changelog.

The docs say: "When using Rails and Sprockets in development mode, no assets are concatenated."

But ActiveModel doesn't support out of the box argument parsing, e.g. having a datetime attribute be a datetime attribute and a boolean attribute be a boolean attribute.

So how are we going to create a model that doesn’t have a database table behind it? There are several potential solutions including various plugins but we’re going to use the method described in an entry on the Code Tunes blog. This shows a techinque that involves overriding a couple of methods in an ActiveRecord model and then manually defining the columns in the model file rather than in the database table.
