    1. The inferior wages and absence of job security associated with adjuncts frequently imply colleges failing to benefit from first-rate candidates.

      The fact that colleges charge no less for a course whether it is taught by an adjunct or tenured professor does not change the fact that they are paying the contingent faculty member significantly less to perform critical parts of the job of educating their student body. This seems gravely unfair.

    1. There’s so much money that goes to the creditors to the top 1 percent or 5 percent that there is no money for capital investment, there is no money for growth. And, since 1980 as you know, real wages in America have been stable. All the growth has been in property owners and predators and the FIRE sector, the rest of the economy is in stagnation.

    1. Zoom, a Silicon Valley-based company, appears to own three companies in China through which at least 700 employees are paid to develop Zoom’s software. This arrangement is ostensibly an effort at labor arbitrage: Zoom can avoid paying US wages while selling to US customers, thus increasing their profit margin. However, this arrangement may make Zoom responsive to pressure from Chinese authorities.
