    1. King Mathias died on April 6, 1490, when Celtis was probably still in Cracow, and such a poem would have received higher esteem only if delivered soon after the tragic event.

      Interesting that the same sort of temporality is still seen in modern times where people feel the need to write about the dead as quickly in real time social networks as they can. Rarely do writers sit and think for a few days prior to publishing as quickly as they can.
