    1. This is probably confusing because the "host" in --network=host does not mean host as in the underlying runner host / 'baremetal' system. To understand what is happening here, we must first understand how the docker:dind service works. When you use the service docker:dind to power docker commands from your build job, you are running containers 'on' the docker:dind service; it is the docker daemon. When you provide the --host option to docker run it refers to the host network of the daemon I.E. the docker:dind container, not the underlying system host.
    1. return &container.HostConfig{ DNS: e.Config.Docker.DNS, DNSSearch: e.Config.Docker.DNSSearch, RestartPolicy: neverRestartPolicy, ExtraHosts: e.Config.Docker.ExtraHosts, Privileged: e.Config.Docker.Privileged, NetworkMode: e.networkMode, Binds: e.volumesManager.Binds(), ShmSize: e.Config.Docker.ShmSize, Tmpfs: e.Config.Docker.ServicesTmpfs, LogConfig: container.LogConfig{ Type: "json-file", },
    1. When a job uses needs, it no longer downloads all artifacts from previous stages by default, because jobs with needs can start before earlier stages complete. With needs you can only download artifacts from the jobs listed in the needs configuration.

    1. Issue relations are meant to be the basic infrastructure to build on (at least that is how I meant it when I posted the original feature request). Just like the labels are just a binary relation between a issue and a "label", the relations should be just a ternary relation between two issues and a "label". Then you can build issue task lists on top of the relations like you've built issue boards on top of the labels.
    2. One of the reasons that some projects don't use Gitlab's issues and use an external tracking platform is the lack of issues relations. Without relations issues are just flat, no way to actually track progress of big features. No way to create a "meta" issue that depends on 4 other or create subtasks and so on. The same problem exists on Github too. It would surely make a difference if Gitlab offers a full features tracking issue, instead of just flat issues. Relations is a major first step towards that.

    1. As you've probably already guessed, we've decided to replace the current Web IDE with one built on top of VS Code. In the coming milestones, we will build out custom support for the features not already available in the VS Code core, and validate that the workflows you already depend on in the Web IDE are handled in the new experience. We're working with the team that builds our amazing GitLab Workflow extension for VS Code to make it available in the browser so we can bundle it in the Web IDE, and bring all those great features along for the ride. That includes bringing merge request comments into the Web IDE for the first time ever!

      GitLab is planning to onboard VS Code web IDE

    1. Overall, if speed is your primary concern and you’re on a budget, then Circle CI is the clear choice. If you’re not looking to run a ton of builds each month and your code is already in Github, then Github Actions can offer similar performance with the added convenience of having everything under one service. Even though we liked Travis better, our main criteria was value, and since you can’t use Travis for free after the first month, GitLab was able to grab the third slot, despite it being weaker in almost every other category.

    1. GitLab is moving all development for both GitLab Community Edition and Enterprise Edition into a single codebase. The current gitlab-ce repository will become a read-only mirror, without any proprietary code. All development is moved to the current gitlab-ee repository, which we will rename to just gitlab in the coming weeks. As part of this migration, issues will be moved to the current gitlab-ee project.

    1. Using the special CI_REGISTRY_USER variable: The user specified by this variable is created for you in order to push to the Registry connected to your project. Its password is automatically set with the CI_REGISTRY_PASSWORD variable. This allows you to automate building and deploying your Docker images and has read/write access to the Registry. This is ephemeral, so it's only valid for one job.

    1. In the near future, given the increase in the use and profile of preprint servers and alternative publishing platforms, such as F1000 Research, it will be necessary to identify how many relevant platforms exist, to describe their scientific scope (i.e., covered disciplines), and, similar to the way that researchers evaluate the aims and scope of journals, to compare their characteristics and policies.
      • Di sini kami memperlihatkan manfaat preprint dengan keleluasaanya (tanpa batasan format, ukuran, jenis berkas dll) akan memberikan dorongan bagi peneliti untuk mempublikasi data dan metode (misal kode program).

      • Ada banyak platform berbagi kode (seperti Github dan Gitlab yang membuka banyak pintu keterbatasan saat penulis ingin membagikan kode program.

      • Platform-platform ini juga mendukung proses berbagi dokumen dan data yang cari (fluid), karena semua orang dapat dengan mudah menggandakan (forking melalui perintah git clone) proyek seseorang untuk kemudian digunakan, dimodifikasi, dan pada akhirnya mungkin mereka meminta kreator orisinalnya untuk memasukkan modifikasi menjadi versi baru dari kode program.

      • Hebatnya semua proses itu tercatat dengan hubungan antara repositori dan akun yang jelas terlihat.
