    1. For when thy labour doon al ys, For when your labour’s all doneAnd hast mad alle thy rekenynges, And you’ve made all the accountsIn stede of reste and newe thynges Instead of rest and other thingsThou goost hom to thy hous anoon, You go straight homeAnd, also domb as any stoon, And as dumb as any stoneThou sittest at another book Sit at another bookTyl fully daswed ys thy look. Till your eyes are fully dazed

In The House of Flame, Chaucer complains of "looking at screens all day" as if he were an office worker in 2025.

"Making all the accounts" here is akin to staring at an accounting spreadsheet all day.

    1. Youtube does not offer any screen reader assistance that is built into their app/website but they do allow a third party extension to help provide to the people who need it which is useful but not as helpful as if they had a program already within the app.

    2. YouTube offers a visually appealing interface, but it also raises concerns about accessibility. For example, the reliance on thumbnails without descriptive alt text limits usability for screen reader users. Improvements in these areas will enhance the inclusion and accessibility of different user groups.

    1. No Alternate Text on Images/Main Image Slide Header and Decorative Images: Some images that provide key information don’t have alt text, as well as some of the decorative photos, making them inaccessible to users relying on screen readers. Without descriptive alt text, users with visual impairments may miss out on important content or context, reducing the site's overall accessibility. I think there can also be numbers added on the white dotted navigator for the main slide headings with images for easy navigation (some of the white on white makes it hard to see and scroll).

    1. i'll start by way of um an analogy everything that all the objects and characters that appear in a movie derive their reality relatively speaking of course from the single screen

for - Rupert Spira - meditation - metaphor - movie and screen - BEing journey - identifying our true nature - movie and screen metaphor - Rupert Spira

    2. for - podcast - Adventures in Awareness - episode - Bernardo Kastrup - Rupert Spira

Summary - A very rich interview with Rupert Spira and Bernardo Kastrup to explore where there perspectives on idealism, materialism and consciousness align and differ. - It appears they mostly align with a few minor differences - Rupert approaches the true nature of mind from an introspective, experiential and meditative angle whilst - Bernardo approaches it from a philosophical and conceptual angle - Rupert opens with a metaphor of the movie vs the movie screen and an accompanying meditation on phenomenological experience and the awareness that experiences all of it - This introduces the audience to experiencing - what Spira alternately calls the true nature of mind and universal consciousness and - what Kastrup refers to as the "ground zero" of consciousness

    1. Our screen sharing, on the other hand, is a bolted-on hack

Not to mention highly inefficient , slow and unresponsive. The biggest thing that we've settled to see this as normal and consider a 10% speed increase as an innovation , think of what would happened if we had a better protocol for sharing information that followed the original design.

I'm particularly concerned with the adoption curve of technology when we disregard optimization it serves indirectly as a way to discriminate against people that can't afford the fastest connection the latest hardware. I wonder if we're at the point with AI assisted coding that we can optimize these systems and the cost of doing so would justify "doing it properly" , yet if we don't know about this principles we're completely on the blind.

    1. Open the YouTube video you want to watch and press Ctrl+M. This keyboard shortcut can make YouTube hide the process bar even you haven’t paused the YouTube video.

To capture a Youtube video screenshot without the player controls, use the Hyde browser extension and the keystroke Ctrl+M to hide/unhide the controls.

Further, one can use the Windows Snipping Tool via Win-Shift-S to effect a screenshot to the clipboard for saving and editing.

    1. One thing is certain when it comes to navigation trends, users and designers seem to be fed up with completely hidden styles and demand options that work in similar formats on desktops and mobile devices. This might be one of the reasons a vertical pattern is trending.
    1. Like most parents, I angst about giving the kids too much screen time, but Garageband has taught me: Not all screen time is created equal. The right piece of software matched with a child’s natural proclivities and talents and passion can yield complete gold.

Interesting quote in regards to Corrie Barclay's post on challanges and screen time.

    1. owever, it isimportant to distinguish between generic job categories andthe specification of tasks performed; the contributorshipmodel is designed to record each individual’s actual input(e.g., experimental design, data collection, statistical analy-sis, final article revision), not job title (e.g., coprincipalinvestigator, technician, systems analyst), since the lattermay on occasion mask or inflate the former (Stern, 2000).

Great point about movie credits: they are about job title, not contribution.

    1. Before 1992 most studies concluded that people read slower, less accurately and less comprehensively on screens than on paper. Studies published since the early 1990s, however, have produced more inconsistent results: a slight majority has confirmed earlier conclusions, but almost as many have found few significant differences in reading speed or comprehension between paper and screens.
