    1. Our concept of ESJ assumes fair sharing of responsibilities among different actors, ensuring that those who are most responsible and capable do the most. For example, the Earth Commission has developed principles for sharing responsibilities for cities and companie

      • Paraphrase
      • Living within planetary limits requires attention to justice as biophysical boundaries are not inherently just.
      • Through collaboration between natural and social scientists, the = Earth Commission

        • to ensure that boundaries:
          • reduce harm,
          • increase well-being,
          • reflect substantive and procedural justice.
      • Such stringent boundaries may also affect ‘just access’ to:
        • food,
        • water,
        • energy,
        • infrastructure.
      • We show how boundaries may need to be adjusted to:
        • reduce harm,
        • increase access,
        • challenge inequality to ensure a safe and just future for people, other species and the planet.
      • Earth system justice may enable living justly within boundaries.
    1. future work should calculate the Planetary Boundaries globally for each ecosystem first, and then downscale them by country.
    1. Yet few cities and companies currently have such targets.
      • Paraphrase
      • Few cities currently have science-based targets (SBT)
      • Only 22 of 500 top greenhouse gas emitting companies set targets in line with SBT (Bloomberg Terminal)
      • Only 110 of the top 200 cities with the highest emissions had "net zero" pledges aligned with Paris Agreement.
      • Numbers are lower or missing for biodversity or other ESBs.
      • Comment
      • Setting such SBTs for cities is in effect downscaling Planetary Boundaries.

    1. DeWine said he has talked directly with the director and several members of the six-member Ohio Casino Control Commission, to which the legislature gave the job of regulating the fledgling industry.

Since neither you nor I nor anyone else may dictate whether or not people bet on sports in Ohio, we couldn't have justly granted that authority to the legislature to hand off to the made-up "Ohio Casino Control Commission". We also couldn't have justly granted any authority to "Governor" Mike DeWine.

This is simply corrupt racketeering by the most powerful gang in the state, and their "legions of enforcer" mercenaries to claim a right to impose their opinions on Ohioans when no one else can.

For those confused, it's right there in the Just Powers clause of The Declaration of Independence.

All just Gov power must be granted to it by individuals. They can't just wish power for themselves out of thin air, no matter how many legislators or voters "vote" for the wish to come true.

    2. Keeping the Earth system in a stable and resilient state, to safeguard Earth's life support systems while ensuring that Earth's benefits, risks, and related responsibilities are equitably shared, constitutes the grand challenge for human development in the Anthropocene. Here, we describe a framework that the recently formed Earth Commission will use to define and quantify target ranges for a “safe and just corridor” that meets these goals.

    1. So it's the fifties and sixties, the stations, they're cutting the NBC coverage of the civil rights movement and it's not just, you know, morally dubious, it's actually against the policies of the FCC. Exactly, right. So civil rights activists decided to put that to the test and they ended up challenging Wlbt? S license for repeatedly denying them airtime. At first, the FCC dismissed the case, but then the activists sued the FCC and they won. And eventually, years later, a federal court decided that Wlbt could stay on the air, but their license would be transferred to a nonprofit, multiracial group of broadcasters.

Enforcement of the FCC Fairness Doctrine

The case was decided at the D.C. Circuit court level with the future Justice Warren Berger writing the opinion. The opinion forced action at the FCC.

      • child exploitation
      • criminals scamming, ransomware
      • foreign governments taking health data and potential attacks to critical infrastructure
